Phnom Penh, April 9, 2024: In a vibrant display of cultural pride and tradition, the Royal Embassies of Cambodia in Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, and Korea have successfully organized “Khmer Sankrant” events, celebrating the rich heritage and customs of Cambodia.

Held on April 7, these celebrations were marked by an array of entertaining and cultural activities designed to promote Cambodian culture on the international stage. Highlights of the festivities included the construction of symbolic sand mountains and the ceremonial bathing of a Buddha statue, intended to usher in blessings for the New Year.

Attendees were also treated to Khmer food and product fairs, traditional clothing exhibitions, art performances, concerts, and folk games. These events served not only to showcase the uniqueness of Cambodia’s New Year celebrations but also to attract international tourists to the country, highlighting the warmth and richness of Cambodian culture.

Meanwhile, in Cambodia, residents from diverse backgrounds are gearing up for the four-day celebration of the Khmer Traditional New Year, set to commence on April 13. This year, the auspicious occasion, heralding the Year of the Dragon, will begin at 22:24, continuing the festivities over the following three days.
